About Austin Collie

As an over-achieving high school athlete in northern California, Austin earned more than a dozen major college football scholarship offers before he made the decision to play for BYU in college. He became BYU's all time leading receiver after only 3 years, and then was a 4th round draft pick as a wide receiver in the NFL. His career was shortened by concussions that began during his second season playing in the NFL. However, he did play for five seasons, and gained unique experiences during that time.

One notable quality about Austin is his strong work ethic, which shows through in his career and his personal life. His career awards and achievements include:

  • Austin was named the Sacramento Bee's Most Valuable Player on its 2003 All-Metro (Northern California) Team and named MVP of all of Northern California. He also became a High-school All-American that same year
  • In December 2009, Austin's hometown newspaper, The Sacramento Bee, honored him with the award of Sacramento Area's Player of the Decade
  • Austin also showed academic success with a 3.9 GPA in High-School
  • In 2004, at BYU Collie was named MWC Freshman of the Year and named to the Sporting News Freshman All-American team
  • He was also named the MVP of the 2007 Las Vegas Bowl and was named to three different all-american teams as a receiver in 2008
  • He was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award (nation's best collegiate receiver)
  • During his NFL rookie season, Austin finished among the top leaders statistically for all new players in the wide receiver position. He was named to the NFL all-rookie team that year as well
  • Austin also helped lead his team (Indianapolis Colts) to Super Bowl XLIV.
  • He was an active participant in the scouting program and earned his Eagle Scout
  • Austin also served a volunteer two-year mission for his church in Buenos Aires, Argentina
