Manuel Donelson

Heroic Beginnings

As an adolescent, Manuel made a life-changing choice to enlist in the military. Through the United States Army, he courageously served his country in Operation Desert Storm. In the course of his military experience, he learned self-discipline, insistence, and strong leadership skills. In addition, he received the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars during Operation Desert Storm for his heroic and meritorious achievements and service in Iraq. Donelson's experience as a Youth Pastor and Youth Advocate spans over 15 years. He has served as Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor for Everlasting Word Church, Progressive Baptist, and the past ten years at Morning Star Community Christian Center in Linden, New Jersey. As a champion for the youth, he mentored and challenged young people to pursue their purpose, follow their dreams and to be an agent for change in their family, school, and community. He also served as a member of the Board of Education for the City of Linden for 3 years.

Community Leader

Today, Donelson's mission is to be a contributing member in his community by using his time, talents and resources to promote peace, awareness and self-reliance. He proudly holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is the Founder and Director of the MasterPEACE Program, which is committed to keeping youth and young adults off of the street. The program is designed to equip the youth of Linden with the tools to make positive choices. He's also the President of the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee. He was recently reappointed by Mayor Derek Armstead as 2015 President of the Linden Mayor's Youth Commission. Currently, Manuel is employed at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
